I have been home for two weeks tomorrow. Salisbury isnt that bad actually. I went to this Earth Day Birthday Jam Saturday and hung out with my friend Mike and some people we went to high school with. The dude was there who I got wasted face with the night before my reunion and was holding hands with and telling “youre super cute” and then fell down the bar stairs possibly 3 times. We laughed about it. I was a little embarassed to see him. He has a girlfriend now. BOO.
Ive been on my South Beach diet and its so much easier to diet when your mom is watching you eat. Also when you can get a huge thing of chicken breasts at Sams for like 15 bucks.
Ive been applying for jobs every day. Had an interview last week and got called for another one. Also applied to some shit on craigslist and was hoodwinked. Stupid robot emails wanting me to “mail” stuff for them. SKETCH.
The dogs and my family are loving having me home. When I drove past Chapel Hill last week, I almost started crying I was so happy and excited to be living there again in the future.
My friends have been so helpful with the job hunt and giving me interview advice. Bridget put me in touch with her friend and she forwarded my resume along and I got a phone call about it yesterday. Bridget, you rock. And your friend does too!
I miss my friends in NYC, but Im enjoying the slower pace here.
Gotta run some errands. In a car. And not have to carry shit home!
This past weekend was my last weekend as a New Yorker and it was pretty damn perfect.
got off work at 2, then drank all afternoon with my coworker loves
met Mike and Adam for dinner in Park Slope. Had a beer then went to Talde when our table was ready.
OMG OMG OMG TALDE IS SO SO GOOD. Its Dale Talde’s place from Top Chef and it is glorious. Warm, dark wooden booths. and the food, the glorious food.
Heres what we had: PERILLA LEAF - toasted shrimp, coconut, bacon-tamarind caramel, peanuts, PRETZEL PORK & CHIVE DUMPLINGS - spicy mustard, CRISPY OYSTER & BACON PAD THAI, KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN - spicy kimchee yogurt, grapes, mint, SHRIMP FRIED RICE, BLACK PEPPER BUTTER TOAST. The spicy kimchee yogurt I want to eat on everything.
went to Union Hall and tried to play bocce but these asshats were taking an hour and a half to play and were being major dicks about it. people were asking them to hurry up but theyd literally toss the ball then have a drink. I called the guy an asshole and when we left told them they were the sorriest bocce players Ive ever seen and they could suck my bocce balls. Did I mention Id been drinking since 2?

and today!!! Today were off at 2, so happy hour all afternoon with my coworker buds and then dinner tonight in Park Slope and a sleepover with Adam and Mike. Tomorrow is for Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, the Keith Haring exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum, maybe bumming around Williamsburg and checking out the Flea and Smorgasburg, then babysitting on the UWS and drinks after.
People keep saying oh where are you going to go what are you going to do why arent you taking any days off? Ive lived here for 7 years and done so much and had some amazing times. I spent months walking around during the work week when I didnt have a job, its boring.
Im going to miss ol NYC, but Im excited for the next chapter.
Me liking Kurt Cobain and what he did musically doesnt mean I condone him committing suicide, but as someone who knows someone who tried to commit suicide, I dont judge people who feel so depressed that they do that. I feel sad for people who kill themselves. AND I feel sad for their families and friends.
Its like watching Mad Men. My grandfather cheated for years, but does that mean I hate Don Draper. No. You can separate entertainment from reality.
