hey 07! you better get back to chapel hill for a pizza and pasta calzone before they close this summer and become tomato jake’s. UGH. franklin street pizza and pasta was my first memory of coming to chapel hill!
Their fresh tomato basil dressing is one of my very favorite things. I stop by Village on 15-501 at least once a week, I crave that salad dressing so hard. Glad that the other store is staying open. UGH BUT WHY MORE CHAINS, FRANKLIN. COME ON.
Saturday we went to Cornelia Street Cafe for brunch. I dropped 30 bucks on a cup of coffee, two slices of tomato, 4 pieces of potato, 3 slices of bread, and 2 eggs over easy with three strips of limp bacon that was billed on the menu as “thick cut.” Disappointment abounded.
So after having a tasty brunch at Kittichai yesterday, with delish blood orange prosecco mimosas, we drank the afternoon away in the West Village.
I picked up a slice from Bleecker Street pizza and that was the last good thing I ate yesterday. I ordered dinner from a pizza place on seamlessweb that had 20% off and ordered carbonara because I was craving some creamy pasta.
What I got was bacon, egg, and spaghetti. No sauce, no spice, no creaminess. Scrambled eggs, bacon, and pasta. If I hadnt still been kind of drunk, I wouldve called and demanded my money back.
Today I went to Subway for lunch because I spent my money on grown up productive things booze and food this weekend. I wanted tomatoes but had the guy take them on and off twice when I tried to explain….I DONT WANT TOMATO CORES ON MY SANDWICH. What the fuck? There was a quarter of an inch of red on those “tomatoes.” Why cant they cut them better? They also made a shitty sloppy Subway club without the amount of meat its supposed to have.
I know this is a dumb rant because there are people starving in the world, but Im just mad I spent around 60 bucks in 3 days on shitty food.
It’s not that hard to eat healthy. I just made two kale salads in 5 minutes after getting home at 11 and working since 9 am. But it is easier and sometimes more delicious to eat something quicker and badder!
picked up pork sandwiches and burnt ends with potatoes at Porchetta and ate in Tompkins Square Park with Mike and Adam
ate some ice cream from Big Gay Ice Cream, I ordered the Monday Sundae which was : Twist Ice Cream, Nutella Lined Waffle Cone, Dulce de Leche, Sea Salt and Whipped Cream
found a Las Vegas baseball tshirt for a buck and Westie earrings for 5 bucks
walked around, up through Union Square, back to Chelsea, snuggled on some Memphis dog then went and babysat Saturday night
brunch with Lekith at The Habitat, food was meh
walked around Greenpoint. Beautiful day, good company, and so many cute boutiques
ran into old coworker Erik, who I hadnt seen in 5 years
got Peter Pan Bakery donuts and ate them in McCarren Park. Walked through some thrift stores and record stores, down to Maison Premier
drinks at Maison Premier
dinner at Walter Foods…holy shit. Split a bottle of wine, 20 oysters, wedge salad, and then each ordered our entrees. Great oysters and their fried chicken, mashed taters, gravy, and brussel sprouts were gooood.
spent the night at Joans, tried to help her cheer up!
bought 2 new sweatshirts from Atlantic Attic. One says Montauk Point and is red, the other is blue and is a visit Michigan sweatshirt with deer and fish on it.
“But if there’s anything I learned from my English classes—from Charlotte Bronte and Jane Austen and Herman Melville—it’s that people don’t like mean people, and they usually end up getting ditched at balls or marrying jerks who stick them in attics or becoming a little too annoying to large animals.”—
An ex of mine that I still talk to one year on Valentines Day told me he had had a sexy dream about me and that we should “do something about it” and his live in girlfriend (now wife) wouldnt mind since they had kind of a swinging lifestyle.
Valentines Day my freshman year of college was pretty eventful. I received a bouquet from my parents and when I called to thank them for the carnations, my mom got pretty pissed that I was sent carnations when they ordered roses for me.
Anywho, my roommate had let it slip that my boyfriend was surprising me. He had coordinated with her to make sure Id be in the room. He brought me chocolates and a rose, and then we went to Top Of the Hill for dinner and got in without a reservation. We ate dinner then walked around and then my friends and I had plans to go see Weekend Excursion at Cats Cradle so I (I dont know why I still went to the show haha) drove him back to his dorm room in Joans car.
We were sitting in the car and he was all “Well goodnight!” and was about to get out when I said “wait”….and then wiggled my index finger like “come here.”
So we started kissing and then my foot slipped off the break, he dropped his gum out of his mouth, and bit my lip as the car lurched forward all at the same time.
Awkward to say the least.
I dont know if Ive ever told that story on here. Long story short, it was a sweet gesture and a great, funny memory.
I never would have thought that the goofy dude I met at orientation would become my boyfriend for a few months and also a friend for life! He and his beautiful, patient, awesome wife are about to have a baby and I cant wait to spoil that baby!
